The EMEA Legal &
Compliance department, lead by our General Counsel/VP Legal Affairs, supports our 5 Business Units and Support Departments with expert advise regarding contract law, GDPR, compliance and many other topics requiring legal support.

Job Summary

As legal counsel, you’ll apply your expertise in a range of legal and compliance areas to provide legal and compliance advice and services to our in-house clients, aligning with our policies and guidelines. When needed, you’ll actively seek the wisdom of more senior lawyers on the team. Independently, you’ll handle day-to-day matters of moderate complexity and risk, seeking guidance and direction as necessary. As a business partner, you’ll dive into understanding our organization’s needs, objectives, and context. Under the supervision of a more senior legal counsel, you may also coordinate activities and coach other staff within the legal and compliance department. This position will report to Peter Van den Eynde, Lead Laywer within the EMEA legal affairs team.

Job Responsibilities


1. Business Partnering:

Shape our future by driving negotiations with global pharma companies and critical suppliers to our Haasrode plant (recognized as a “Factory of the Future” by Agoria, 2022).
Demonstrate a committed, can-do attitude to meet business needs. Apply an agile and solution-oriented approach to thrive in our fast-paced environment.
Proactively identify issues and propose practical solutions. Help drive business process improvement projects.
Where it matters, collaborate seamlessly with outside counsel under the supervision of a more senior lawyer.

2. Geographic Scope:

Become a key contributor to our 15+ strong and growing EMEA Legal &
Compliance Team.
Impact BU matters across all of EMEA &
APAC regions.
Support the BU leadership team on projects with global relevance.

3. Collaboration:

Work effectively in a matrix organization:
Be a pro-active, open communicator to resolve overlaps or ambiguities and share information, knowledge and learnings.
Engage with diverse stakeholders and SMEs across functions.
Work on or lead Legal &
Compliance projects andinnovate using modern tools.
Apply project and change management skills to drive efficiency and adoption of new processes &
tools.

4. Compliance Champion:

Be a guardian of integrity and responsibility.
Implement compliance policies and foster a compliance culture within the BU/Function across EMEA.


You have a sharp legal mind with strong writing, communication and presentation skills.
Experience:
minimum 5 years in a legal practice (in-house or law firm).
Expertise in commercial contracts is a must.
You have a solid understanding of Pharma/Medtech industry and additional expertise in areas such as M&
A, R&
D, IP/IT, and/or data protection is a plus.
Flexibility &

you demonstrate a business-minded and solution-oriented, “can-do” attitude. Eager to learn, handle complex tasks and tackle new challenges. You navigate foreign jurisdictions with ease and engages confidently with senior leadership members both in EMEA and the global BU organizations.
Strong Interpersonal Skills:
Collaborates effectively with diverse stakeholders,communicates openly to establish trust and build strong relationships.
Language Skills:
Fluent in English;
other languages are a bonus.
Tech Affinity:
Embraces technology to enhance efficiency and improve compliance.
