Where are you?

Welcome to your future team. As Senior Linux Engineer (employee or contractor) you will become an indispensable link in our IT Operations Team headed by Christof Bockstaele.

What you'll be doing?
As a Senior Linux Engineer, you ensure infrastructure delivery is automated and with proper follow-up implemented.
Implement, maintain, and support configuration management and automation across our operational environments in close collaboration with other stakeholders.
You are part of a team to implement and deliver requests for infrastructure improvements and participate in defining the optimal long-term solution for the request, considering the existing product portfolio.
As a Senior Linux Engineer it is essential that you have an in-depth comprehension of the operational reality. Therefore, approximately half of your time will be spent on making sure the operational service is guaranteed. The other half of your time you will spend making the service more resilient and automating 'the hell out of everything'.
When implementing new infrastructure services and technologies, you will provide your objective evaluation and substantiate your arguments for supporting the new product or technology and this in close collaboration with the SREs and our internal security risk team. This to achieve a financial industry grade secured solution.
You maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies to ensure fast disaster recovery and restoration of service.
You provide 2nd and 3rd level support.

This is how you appear in our dreams
You have a solid understanding of Linux operating system and Hardware architectures and how to maintain them. Knowledge of and experience with Satellite is a plus.
You like to automate repetitive tasks and are not afraid of writing code or plugins for those when needed.
You have a good understanding of Virtualization platforms (VMware) and have some experience with Kubernetes or OpenShift.
Problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a rapid paced, customer facing, 24/7 production environment are a must as are your troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
You are at least fluent in English (EU C1). French/Dutch are a plus.
Having experience with private and public cloud environments is a plus.
You know what DevOps is about and are actively working together with development and operational teams to improve collaboration.
24/7 Operations/Duty experience.
